The social issue that was addressed in this meme is domestic violence. I engaged my audience in this meme by using a social issue that a lot of people can relate to and it shows that they should stand up for themselves and to not let someone cause harm to them. This picture represents my social issue because I used a picture of a girl who looks hopeless by looking and the black eye that she has. This social issue is important to me because I know someone who used to be abused and was too afraid to get out of the relationship, but finally stood up for herself and got out of that bad relationship. This impacts others because there are hundreds of people who are abused on a daily basis and don't do anything to fix that. Also, those who physical abuse others need to realize what they are doing and the harm they are causing not just the person they are abusing, but those around them.
The social issue that was addressed in this meme is drinking and driving. I engaged my audience in this meme by using an issue that many people have been effected by and sadly many people have done themselves. This picture represents my social issue because it shows two things that shouldn't "mix" and even though it doesn't show the outcome of what could happen, it does show that it won't end in a good way. This social issue is important to me because I don't know anyone personally who has drove while drunk, but I do have family members who do drink and can drink a lot. This impacts others because there are many people who drink and drive and they ruin the lives of hundreds and thousands of people. They also ruin their own lives in a split second because of the idiotic idea to get behind a wheel and start driving.
What Did I learn?
During the social commentary meme project, I was able to learn how to add text on a picture and make the text look like a meme. By doing that, I used the tool stroke and had the black outline on the outside of the words. Having the white and black outline created the effect of a meme.
