Reflection
A1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried and mastered was sharpies. This was quite difficult because there were times when I put to much pressure which made the lines too thick and then I would have to start over. In fact, I had to redo the mountain and the hiking boot drawings twice. For all of the pictures, but the hiking boot I was able to free draw them by looking at the picture that I found. However, the hiking boot was really difficult to free draw and I instead traced the picture that I found.
2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists?
I went onto to google and drew inspiration from the drawings that I found. The drawings that I did find weren't done by well known artists and I was unable to find a name. I chose these artists because they resembled what my family wants to do more of in the future.
3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements.
I decided to do four little drawings because it shows a little bit of my life. For example, the tackle box is a representation of what my family does every other year in Minnesota with my grandfather. The hiking boot represents what my sister and I try to do every weekend when the weather is nice. I decided to use sharpies because I have never worked with them and I wanted to try to see how the drawings would turn out.
4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time?
I would add more drawings of what my family and I want to do because the drawings that I did do only shows the outdoor side of me, but there are many other things that I want to do than just skiing, hiking, camping and fishing. I would also change the typography of the front page because I personally don't like how it looks and the words are really close to one another. Also, I would try to do a drawing that included more use of the sharpies to see if coloring would work well or end up being a mess. Overall, I am proud of what I was able to create.
5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?
This piece links with my other pieces because the drawings the show what brings my family together and what we love to do. The common thread is family.
